Google Maps' items search is a jobs-to-be-done classic

Solving a pressing issue at a stressful time of year

Google Maps / google.com

Ever find yourself running around looking for a Turbo Man, only to get laughed at by the entire store? We've all been there, Arnie.

Here's how Google Maps' latest feature may be of assistance.

What's the job?

Before Christmas, lots of adults have one mission and one mission only: get all the shopping done.

There's only one problem. Steve wants a new pickleball racket, Jimmy wants the latest Nike, and Sarah is after that special jar of peanut butter she loves.

Where will you get all this? Nightmare.

Enter Google Maps

Given that 53% of Christmas shopping happens in the last couple of weeks before Christmas, finding the right shop for the right items (at the same time as everyone else) is bound to be a stressful time.

Search for those items and Google Maps will display the nearest stores that stock them.

Boom.

So simple, it's stupid. (Also, yay for a new non-AI feature!).

But solving a customer's key job-to-be-done, particularly at such a stressful time of the year, is never stupid. Now go on and jingle all the way.
