Amazon Prime Video launch a TV show recap feature

"Wait, who's this again?"
If you ever find yourself having to recap entire episodes of Cross to your partner after they (rudely) passed out on the couch the night before, you're in luck.
Amazon is introducing X-Ray Recaps, a new Prime Video feature that automatically generates recaps of your show to help you catch up.
What problem are we solving?
61% of Americans fall asleep with the TV on, according to a survey by LG Electronics. This (staggering) statistic sheds a bit of light onto the problem at hand: people can't remember what happened in the last episode.
This is a problem for streaming platforms as these users are more likely to rewind their show (which slows their progress through the show and, by definition, delays them watching another show, aka missed revenue) or abandon it altogether (missed revenue).
The solution: an AI-generated, context-aware summary of the show up to the point you stopped it.
"Prime Video will deliver summaries of memorable moments and important plot points so our customers can quickly jump back into what they were watching or rediscover why they fell in love with a series in the first place," said Adam Gray, vice president of product at Prime Video.
This new feature adds to existing functionalities such as displaying episode trivia, on-screen actor names, and more.
