Spotify double down on audiobooks with a new marketing product

Spotify for Authors is a marketing suite for audiobook authors

Are you finally launching the audiobook you've been working on for the past 17 years?

You're in luck. To help you compete against the other 300,000+ titles on their platform, Spotify has launched a new product (and a bunch of features), Spotify for Authors.

The new Spotify for Authors...

... is a standalone product for authors (duh) and publishers.

Publishers use this product to gather insights into their authors' audience, manage royalties, and sprinkle a bit of marketing goodness with promo codes.

Authors use this product to learn more about the people listening to their content, set up promo codes, create marketing collaterals, and manage their author profiles.

Most exciting for authors: Spotify for Authors gives authors insights into the other content their audience listens to. For example, an author like Mark Manson might see his audience listen to My First Million. Shebang; that's a marketing channel opportunity baby!

"This is important because podcasts are a big part of any book’s release campaign and ongoing success—so now they will have a better sense of what kinds of shows to target," says Owen Smith, VP of Audiobooks Product and Technology at Spotify.

Spotify is creating a product portfolio

Spotify for Authors is a new addition to a growing portfolio of products:

It's clear Spotify are doubling down on audiobooks. Last year, they launched free audiobook access for all Premium subscribers (up to 15 hours per month). Their audiobook-related product roadmap is also stacked with goodies, recently announcing follow-along, adding videos, and more.
