The Backlog’s State of Product Jobs Report (September 2024)

We collected the latest product-related job data for September 2024.

Below are some of the key numbers, trends, and insights.

Worldwide product job market

Worldwide product job market (September 2024)

The worldwide market for product roles took a 3.8% nose dive MoM.

The largest market share is, of course, captured by the ‘Product Manager’ role. About 61% of all product-related advertised jobs are for a PM role.

In September, senior product roles have roughly broken even:

  • CPOs have grown by 29.87% (from 77 to 100) MoM.

  • Group Product Managers have declined by 19.82% (from 227 to 182) MoM.

Head of Product roles remained steady, growing by only 0.27%.

Remote vs. on-site vs. hybrid product jobs

Remote, on-site, and hybrid product roles (September 2024)

Given the worldwide number of open positions in product have declined, it’s no surprise all three job locations have, too.

Hybrid roles have taken the biggest hit, down 5.25% MoM.

Remote roles continue to decline, this time by 3.23% (from 8,577 to 8,300 roles worldwide). This is the second month in a row that remote positions are on the decline. Are we seeing a trend?

Still plenty of remote product roles, as seen below.
