Figma slides into Google's DMs

Figma Slides, Notion Sites, and more

It’s Sunday. The sun is not shining (UK summer vibes, baby). The cut-throat product world is out for blood. Everything is good.

In this issue: Figma Slides, Notion Sites, and more.

Let’s get it.

Figma Slides into Google’s DMs

Figma Slides / figma.com

Figma Config 2024 wrapped up a couple of days ago. Amongst all the fancy new features (and stepping right over the obligatory new AI feature) is Figma Slides. Figma Slides make it incredibly easy to co-work on decks to create narratives and blow your audience’s mind with beautiful creatives.

It is directly going against Google Slides (launched in 2006, hardly updated since) in a move reminiscent of their origin story assault on Photoshop.

Plenty of teams have already been using Figma to design slides and marketing creatives. Now, they’re getting a dedicated free (until 2025) product. Very neat.

Turn Notion spaces into sites

Notion Sites / notion.so

Notion crushed the dreams of Notion-to-website SaaS tools in one fell swoop with Notion Sites.

Use templates to create a Notion space, personalise it, click a button and voila; you’ve got yourself a website.

This move not only kills tens of apps but should also provide Notion with the fuel it needs to crush competitors like Evernote, Confluence, and ClickUp.

What else is up?

  • Using AI is making us lonelier at work, according to new HBR research.

  • Your Facebook memories are now training data for Meta’s AI.

  • YouTube are bringing new subscription plans and new Premium features, including the ability to skip ahead to the ‘next best moment’.
